Happy Hour with an African Twist! - It's going down! THE AM I EXPERIENCE kicks off on June 2nd, and you're invited to take a stroll down memory lane with us of growing up African and American. Avery's Bar and Lounge (1370 H Street Northeast) is where we'll be occupying two floors and a rooftop for a night of drinks, comedy, art and more! You don't want to miss it.
So what’s this experience all about? Well there’s this film that’s on a national film tour called AM I: Too African to be American or Too American to be African telling the story of young millennials who grew up bi-cultural as African and American. On this tour during discussion panels, we realized that our stories of growing up bi-cultural, even though we had our obstacles, we also had great fun memories growing up. So we decided to re create that entire experience once again. From the food, the beverages, the music, the household settings, the characters and more, you can bet you’ll find it at THE AM I EXPERIENCE. Take a peek at the trailer and visit amithefilm.com for the full movie.
